One of the traditions that the Ingram family has continued through the years is that of the Family Soul Food Celebration. Started over 60 years ago, by the matriarch of the family, Evangelist Maggie Ingram, this tradition began as a way to serve those in the community of Richmond, VA. The Ingram family has continued the tradition, and has been blessed to make the tradition a part of the Richmond Folk Festival.
Come out an enjoy a cooking demonstration, and a varied menu of healthy “soul food cooking”, that will include among other dishes, Roasted Tom Turkey with herbs and stuffing , “Me-Me Carrots”, Red Cabbage, Southern String Beans, Traditional Corn Bread, prepared by the Master chef. “The Legendary Ingramettes” will be on hand to add some “rockin’ Gospel singing” to a fun-filled family celebration.
Joining the Legendary Ingramettes will be their sister, Christine Ingram-Murphy who is a member of the 2018-2019 class of Master Artists in the Virginia Folklife Apprenticeship Program in Charlottesville, VA. Christine is a Master of soul food cooking, with an emphasis on healthy traditional soul food dishes.
